Letter To Home – 06-07-2022

Grade 8 Parents and Guardians,

Tanisi, this year has been challenging for all but we have come to the end of a successful year back in class! Many are wondering about the Grade 8 Ceremony and we would like to inform you of the date and details.

The Grade 8 Āhkamēyimok Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 am. As our first year as a Middle School, we would like to start a new Tradition as a school and for the students. We know and understand that times do get tough for some families, especially when the world is beginning to return to a new ‘normal’. So with saying that we would like to begin a new tradition and we are requesting to have all the females in Grade 8 to wear a ribbon skirt to the ceremony and the males to wear a ribbon shirt. This also coincides with the date of the Ceremony which is National Indigenous Peoples Day and to honour our Culture and ourselves as Indigenous people what a better way than to celebrate moving on in this way.

Although things are beginning to regulate in our society, we are still required to keep the staff and students safe from Covid-19. We are limiting guests to parents and grand-parents, with a total maximum of guests to 6 per student.

We hope to see you all there to help us celebrate our students first full year back in the classroom and to congratulate them into their first year of high school at Saskāskohc High School.

Ay Hiy,
Eagleview Middle School
